Shutters
Shutters provide both light control and thermal insulation. The pocket of air they create when fully closed insulates your room from the sun and can reduce internal temperatures by 8-13 degrees Celsius. White shutters reflect the maximum amount of heat and our UK-made faux wood shutters will not warp, crack or fade in the sun.
Blind Screen
Another UK-made product, BlindScreen is a fantastic solution for windows, doors and bifold doors. The cellular fabric creates a thermal barrier and prevents 49% heat loss in winter months* so will likely reduce solar heat gain by similar amounts.
A versatile product for all sizes of square and rectangular windows, BlindScreen can be configured with an insect screen as well as the honeycomb insulating fabric, providing multiple uses throughout the year.

Duette Blinds
Another product using a honeycomb structure to insulate your home, Duette blinds can be configured in many ways including fitting shaped windows. There is a huge range of colours, transparencies and insulating properties combined with both manual and automated options.

Thermal Blackout Curtains & Roman Blinds
Our hand made curtains and Roman blinds use interlining and an ivory-coloured blackout lining as standard. This not only enhances their aesthetic appeal but also improves heat retention in winter and prevents heat penetration in summer. The general recommendation is to close blinds and curtains during the hottest part of the day; additional thermal protection further enhances this effect.
External solutions
As temperatures rise in this green and pleasant land, we are increasingly considering products from the continent for solar protection. We supply and install external screens that prevent sunlight from reaching windows. These reduce glare and provide UV protection, helping to maintain a cooler temperature on hot summer days.
Motorisation options automate their operation, particularly in homes with a high number of windows.
Awnings offer an external solution to shade windows while providing a shaded outdoor space. Covering areas up to 12m wide, awnings can be motorised and customised with features such as LED lighting and heating for use on cooler evenings.
Motorisation and smart home control
For ultimate control and convenience, adding motorisation to window treatments allows for electronic operation of these essential cooling elements.
Blinds and curtains can be scheduled to open and close at set times, controlled from any location via an app on a smartphone or a home automation system. For example, a voice command such as “Alexa, close all the blinds” will instantly shade and protect the home from the sun.
